Central Otago's Domain Road Vineyard, near Bannockburn, is sited in a sheltered valley that provides a unique micro-climate, ideal for producing premium wines.
Our Sauvignon Blanc vines are planted partially on the top of Templers Hill, an area left untouched by 19th century gold miners, and partially on Doctors Flat where mining has exposed mineral-rich clays from a 8-15 million year old lake bed.
Whole bunch pressed and co-inoculated with wine yeasts in stainless steel fermenters before 25% was transferred to ferment in French oak barriques. Fermentation was stopped to retain a touch of residual sweetness.
Complex aromas of passionfruit, stonefruit and gooseberry dominate, with hints of black currant. Intense flavours of gooseberry and passionfruit combine with good weight on the mid-palate and an attractive minerality on the finish.
Enjoy with seafood, white meats, salad dishes, or as an aperitif.
