2014 Pinot Noir - Single Vineyard
Our Pinot Noir is grown on our best soils in a part of the vineyard that has not been touched by gold mining. For almost 100 years fruit was grown here, peaches pears and apples originally and then Apricots at a later stage. It has been said that if you can grow Apricots then you can also grow great Pinot Noir and this has certainly been the case at Domain Road.
Harvested between 8th and 10th April 2014, the fruit was de-stemmed and wild fermented in three open-top fermenters. It was then aged in French oak barriques for ten months, of which 32% was new oak.
With dark purple hues, this wine is wonderfully complex. Aromas of dark cherry and spice, with hints of violet, are offset by the flavours of richly dark plums and cherry. With good fruit concentration and supportive oak tannins, this wine has a lovely long persistence on the finish.
