Hope you all had the merriest of Christmases; hard to believe it's a matter of days until we're welcoming in yet another year!  We're certain you will all have your favourite Domain Road drop to help celebrate!

Just touching base with our passionate wine followers before we say our final farewell to 2017.

A note from Fiona Johnman our master of everything viticultural....

'The vineyard team have had an extremely busy December trying to keep up with the exceptionally fast growth and development.  With the hot and dry Spring and early Summer thus far, we are around three weeks ahead of schedule.  The normal after Christmas and New Year holiday vineyard tasks such as shoot positioning and trimming and leaf plucking have had to be brought forward to ensure we keep the vines in top shape and condition.  A bigger team than normal - representing France, Thailand, China and Italy, are all very happy to take a well earned break and enjoy a glass or two of what it is all about - the delicious Domain Road wines. If the season continues in the same vein, we may well be harvesting our Pinot Noir for Rose at the end of February.  Now that would be a first!!'

Tis a very exciting time in the vineyard that's for sure!

The cellar door at the Defiance vineyard on Felton Road has almost been open a year; we'll celebrate our first opening anniversary on the 16th January.  What a magnificent spot our cellar door folk get to enjoy on a daily basis.  If you've not been into visit us - please put it on your list of things to do so we can all share the experience with you.

Today marked a sad day at the cellar door - we farewelled our amazing 2016 Pinot Noir Rose from our tasting list :( Sadly our 2017 vintage is already allocated to existing commitments, importers and clients so we're unable to share this beautiful summer drop with our guests or website visitors...On a positive note though, reading Fiona's note, it sounds as though we won't have wait too long for the 2018!!

We have a larger team in the cellar door this year to assist our visitors with their wine experience - Maria takes the helm of the team, with side kicks - Jennie who has been with Domain Road for many years, Jim a long time passionate wine enthusiast and Jacqui a longtime local wine appreciator.

We celebrated the end of the year with a lovely BBQ hosted by Graeme and Gillian on the 21st December.  All Domain Road staff enjoyed incredible hospitality including an amazing taste of the 2007 Domain Road Estate Pinot Noir!!  Such an amazing drop!  Great to taste the integrity of the wine first hand.

Here's a few snaps of the team - including Lucy as we reflected on the year that was 2017.

All the very best to you all. Can't wait to share more fine times with you all in the next year.
