Happy Christmas and holidays - 24 Dec 14

Tis the season to be merry.  So a very Happy Christmas to you all from everyone at Domain Road Vineyard.  Our vineyard team certainly look as though they are getting into the spirit of things (maybe they are just anticipating four days of holiday!).  

If you are in Central over the summer please come by and see us - trying our award winning wines, looking out across the vineyard from the shade of our walnut trees is a pretty special experience.  Alongside our gold medal 2011 Pinot Noir, you can also try our 'top notch' Sauvignon Blanc, and excellent Rieslings.

Central Otago Sauvignon Blanc outshines Marlborough - we are delighted to announce that Domain Road 2013 Sauvignon Blanc has been judged Best New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by Cuisine Magazine in its recent tasting of 215 Sauvignon Blancs from around New Zealand.  Quite an achievement given the dominance that the Marlborough region normally has with this wine.  There are only a few of us producing Sauvignon Blanc in Central Otago and we see this as an award for our region as well as Domain Road.  

The colour of pale straw, our Sauvignon Blanc is a dry style, complex wine with good mouth feel and texture and a long lingering finish.  Aromas of gooseberry, passionfruit and citrus on the nose are complemented by intense flavours of gooseberry and passionfruit on the palate, alongside hints of stone fruit and citrus.

Michael Cooper has described it as "mouth-filling, ripely herbaceous style, fresh and youthful, with good complexity and a dry crisp finish.
