Central Otago's Domain Road Vineyard, near Bannockburn, is sited in a sheltered valley which provides a unique micro-climate, ideal for producing premium wines.
Our Riesling vines are planted in the lower region of the vineyard where 19th century gold miners left an area of exposed mineral rich ‘pipe clay’, the remnants of a 2-million year old lake bed.
The fruit was harvested on 20th April 2010 and part of the vintage was de stemmed and left on skins for a very short time before whole bunch pressing. A long, slow, cool, ferment retains retains the fruit and varietal characteristics of the wine with some residual sweetness retained to give an off-dry style of wine.
The wine has lifted aromas of melon and citrus fruits with honey and floral notes on the nose. The small amount of residual sweetness is well balanced, and will allow you to experience ginger and lime on the palate, with excellent persistence on the finish.
Enjoy with lightly spiced dishes, seafood or as an aperitif.
