Domain Road Vineyard is situated in a small sheltered valley in the heart of the historic gold mining village of Bannockburn. The unique microclimate of the area, long known to the local population, is proving ideal for the production of premium wine grapes. The Pinot Noir fruit for this Rosé comes from an area known as Charcoal Gully. Sheltered from prevailing winds by the surrounding hills, this fruit has been carefully tended to produce a complex mix of flavours and create a superbly flavoursome wine.
The Wine
Reminiscent of summer sunsets and long evenings, this saignée rosé is made from Pinot Noir fruit which was 100% destemmed and the juice held on the skins overnight to pick up the fresh vibrant pink colour. On the nose, there are attractive vibrant and fresh aromas of summer strawberries, raspberries, peaches and stone fruits. The ferment was stopped to retain a hint of residual sugar, but this wine is dry in style. The perfect wine to serve chilled with summer platters.
Enjoy as an aperitif or with a variety of lighter dishes including rabbit or hare.
