Winegrower Awarded Bragato Gold
30 Aug 10
Domain Road Vineyard wines were winners at the recent Bragato Wine Awards that run concurrently with the New Zealand Winegrowers Romeo Bragato Conference.
Three wines were entered, the 2009 Riesling, 2009 Sauvignon Blanc and 2009 Pinot Noir. 56 gold medals were awarded with Domain Road gaining two - one each for the Riesling
and Pinot Noir. This was despite neither having yet been released for sale.
These awards are important to vineyards such as Domain Road because they recognise the grower of the grapes. This removes from competition many generic brands which buy in grapes from different sources, leaving generally single vineyard wines from highly dedicated growers.
Domain Road Vineyard owner Graeme Crosbie says, "While I am not necessarily a great fan of competitions, they do help reinforce our decision to choose this site and indicate our potential. Domain Road Vineyard has much more to offer yet."
