Domain Road Vineyard Wins Second Award

7 Jun 11

The internationally respected Decanter magazine has released its 2011 awards, and the Domain Road Vineyard 2009 Pinot Noir has been awarded the regional trophy, one of its highest accolades.

The Decanter award comes hard on the heels of the Domain Road Vineyard being awarded Best Riesling in Show for its 2009 Riesling at the Hong Kong International Wine Challenge.

Domain Road Vineyard owner Graeme Crosbie says two of the keys to the vineyard’s success are its terroir and attention to careful viticulture.

The vineyard has been producing wine for only the past six years but is winning an unusually large number of national and international awards.

The exceptionally high quality of wines emerging from its Domain Road site have prompted the owners to expand the acreage under grape, and they have recently bought a further 10 hectares adjacent to Felton Road.

The land, which has never before been used for grape cultivation, will be planted in chardonnay, pinot gris, sauvignon blanc and pinot noir grapes.

The new acquisition doubles Domain Road Vineyard’s capacity but the first harvest will not be until 2015.
